Newtown Police were dispatched to a residence on Cedar Hill Road in Newtown to investigate the report of a car being stolen around 4 a.m. on Thursday, June 28.
A Newtown patrol officer was in the area and spotted the stolen vehicle and became involved in a very short pursuit before the stolen car crashed and the suspect fled the scene, Newtown Police said.
After an extensive search of the area did not uncover the suspect, a resident in the area called the police to report a suspicious individual in the area of the crash.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Angel Garcia of Danbury.
Another car was also stolen from a residence on Greenbriar Lane and was believed to have been stolen by accomplices of Garcia.
Garcia is being held on bond at the Newtown Police Department.
The investigation is on going and more arrests are expected.
